Dongpo Pork and Menbosha – A Memorable Harmony
The Dongpo pork dish made an immediate impression with its visually stunning presentation. The glistening, tender pork fell apart effortlessly at the touch of chopsticks. The savory, umami-rich soy sauce paired beautifully with the fresh crunch of bok choy, creating a perfect balance of flavors. The Menbosha, filled with juicy shrimp meat, was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Impressively, the crispness held up throughout the meal, allowing me to enjoy every bite without losing texture or flavor.

A Well-Rounded and Affordable A-Course
The A-course menu offered a diverse selection: Yusanseul (stir-fried mixed vegetables and seafood), Palbochae (eight-treasure stir-fry), Sweet and Sour Pork, Jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) or Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and dessert. The Yusanseul was tender and flavorful, while the Palbochae showcased fresh, high-quality seafood. The Sweet and Sour Pork maintained its crisp coating despite the passage of time, which is no easy feat. The Jjamppong stood out with its clear yet deeply rich broth, setting it apart from typical versions. The Jjajangmyeon had a light but robust flavor that lingered pleasantly on the palate. Finally, the dessert provided a refreshing finish to the meal.

Ambiance, Service, and the Desire to visit again
The allotted dining time of 1 hour and 30 minutes felt just right. The clean, minimalist interior and attentive service enhanced the overall experience, making it a meal to remember. The convenience of an on-site parking lot made visiting hassle-free. With its sophisticated atmosphere, Mokran is an excellent choice for both family gatherings and special date nights.
A Reservation Worth Pursuing
Just as Chef Lee Yeon-bok’s reputation suggests, reservations at Mokran are highly competitive. Phone reservations are essential, and tables fill up quickly, making it difficult to secure your preferred date. However, there's hope—keeping an eye on last-minute cancellations can be a smart strategy. While it may take effort and patience, the first bite will make you realize that the wait was well worth it.
