Ttukseom J-Bug Reborn as Hangang Play Place: A Riverside Theme Park for All Generations
The iconic caterpillar-shaped landmark at Ttukseom Hangang Park, formerly known as the "J-Bug" (Jabeolle), has officially shed its old skin. On December 19, it reopened as Hangang Play Place (also known as Hangang PP), pivoting from a quiet exhibition hall into a vibrant, family-friendly cultural theme park. The new name carries the ambition of adding "imagination" and "fun" to the Han River experience, creating a space where the city’s history meets futuristic play.

From Static Viewing to Dynamic Playing
Previously, the J-Bug functioned primarily as a gallery and a rest area. While it offered beautiful views, the content was often static. The new Hangang Play Place has been entirely reimagined to cater to a broader audience, including families with young children, seniors, and international tourists.
By integrating media technology and interactive content, the park now allows visitors to experience the river's festivals, nature, and leisure activities indoors. This makes it a perfect year-round destination, offering an escape from the summer heat or the winter chill while still celebrating the essence of the Han River.

Level 1: A Multi-Sensory Experience of the River
The first floor is divided into three distinct sections that allow visitors to engage with the river in innovative ways.
Parkview Lounge and Experience Zones
Located directly at the entrance from Jayang Station, the Parkview Lounge provides a tranquil spot to enjoy views of the Han River and the N Seoul Tower. Moving further inside, the Experience Zone brings the river to life through technology:
• Hangang Panorama: Massive LED media walls display high-definition footage of various riverside festivals.
• Hangang Walk: This unique section features treadmills paired with immersive media, allowing you to "walk" along famous spots like the Seoraeseom waterfront or the Jamwon Grass Garden without leaving the building.
• Simulated Tours: Visitors can take a virtual flight in a Hangang Gondola or navigate the waters in the Hangang Bus, offering perspectives of the city that were previously impossible to see.
• Water Play and Sky Suite: You can virtually experience water sports like surfing or step into a replica of the Sky Suite, the luxury hotel located on the Hangang Bridge.

The Otter Playground
In the "head" section of the structure lies a playground dedicated to the Otter, a symbol of the Han River's ecological restoration. This eco-friendly space features large-scale play equipment and safe, cushioned flooring designed specifically for younger children to play without restrictions.
Level 3: Healing and Cultural Rhythm
The third floor shifts the focus toward emotional healing and the "hip" culture of Seoul.
• Under the Bridge: A dedicated relaxation zone that uses media to simulate the peaceful feeling of resting under a Han River bridge.
• Hangang Moment: A curated photo zone designed to capture the unique aesthetic of the river's light and bike paths.
• Hangang Beat: Inspired by the popular silent DJ parties held along the river, this space allows visitors to wear headsets and enjoy curated DJ sets while looking out over the water, offering a romantic and modern cultural experience.

Designed for Everyone: Accessibility and Facilities
Hangang Play Place stands out for its inclusive design. It was built to ensure that the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with infants can move around without barriers.
• Barrier-Free Access: Elevators are strategically placed so that wheelchair users can easily access both the 1st and 3rd floors.
• Family Amenities: The facility includes dedicated nursing rooms and stroller storage areas.
• Safety First: All play areas use non-toxic, shock-absorbing materials, making it a safe haven for preschoolers and toddlers.
