Seokchon Lake Luminarie 200% Enjoyment Guide: "Love & Dream Forever"
Was Seokchon Lake always this pretty?
If you are visiting Seoul this winter, you might think the city goes to sleep after dark. Think again! Jamsil’s iconic Seokchon Lake has transformed into a canvas of light, offering one of the most romantic night walks in the city.
The "Autumn and Winter of the Lake, and Luminarie" festival is currently lighting up the night under the slogan "Love & Dream Forever." Running until the end of February 2026, this event uses thousands of LED lights and cutting-edge media art to turn the lake into a galaxy on earth.
Here is your guide to enjoying this festival to the fullest.
Highlights: What to See
This year’s festival is bigger and brighter than ever, expanding from the East Lake to cover the West Lake as well.

1. The Main Gates & Luminarie Tunnel
Start your journey at the East Lake Entrance. The "Main Gate," glowing in gold and pink, welcomes you into a long tunnel of light. Walking through this tunnel feels like strolling through the Milky Way. It is the perfect spot for that "entering a new world" video for your Instagram reels.

2. "The Sphere" Media Art
The crown jewel of this year’s festival is located in the center of the East Lake walking path. "The Sphere" is a massive 7-meter diameter globe that displays shifting media art animations. Surrounded by an LED flower garden, the reflection of the sphere on the dark water creates a mesmerizing, jewelry-like effect.

3. Extended Light Zones (West Lake)
Don't stop at the East Lake! Cross over to the West Lake, where a new "Semi-Gate" welcomes you. The entire lakeside loop is balanced with photo zones, including romantic heart-shaped tunnels, purple-lit swing benches, and the iconic Lotte World Tower towering in the background.

Where to Rest: Cultural Experiment Space 'Lake'
It can get chilly walking around the lake. When you need a break, head to the "Cultural Experiment Space Lake" (Munhwa Silheom Gonggan Hosu) located on the West Lake.
• What it is: A complex cultural base offering exhibitions and performances.
• Why visit: The 1st-floor lounge offers a warm, comfortable space with a direct view of the lake. It is the perfect "shelter" to warm your hands, enjoy some art, and watch the lights from indoors.
Enrich Your Walk: Night Tour with a Guide
Did you know this area is historically significant? Near the lake, you can find the Samjeondobi Monument (a remnant of the Manchu invasion) and the site of the old Songpa Ferry.
Seoul City offers a "Luminarie Lake Road Night Commentary Program." A professional guide walks with you for about 90 minutes, explaining the artistic value of the lights and the history of the area.
• Time: Daily 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (except Mondays & Public Holidays).
• Booking: Available via the Seoul Public Service Reservation website (Free of charge).

Traveler’s Tips for a Perfect Visit
• Best Time: The lights turn on automatically at sunset and stay on until 10:30 PM. Arrive right at dusk to see the sky turn deep blue against the golden lights (the "Magic Hour").
• Dinner Plans: After your walk, head to the nearby Songnidan-gil or the Bang-i-dong Food Alley. Both are famous for trendy cafes and delicious Korean BBQ/restaurants.
• Getting There: The lake is very accessible. Take Subway Line 2 or 8 to Jamsil Station and exit at Exit 2 or 3. It is just a 5-minute walk.
