A New Nighttime Gem on the Han River: 'Atelier Nodeul' Opens!

A Daily Dose of Media Art Under the Hangang Bridge
If you are looking for a special spot to enjoy the evening in Seoul, look no further. On November 28th, a new public media art exhibition platform, ‘Atelier Nodeul,’ opened its doors—or rather, its lights—at the southern end of Nodeul Island, right under the Hangang Bridge.
Running daily until February 28, 2026, this unique space transforms the underside of the bridge into a canvas of light every evening from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Art Meets the River
‘Atelier Nodeul’ is part of the Nodeul Global Art Island project's "Sound Scape" vision. It utilizes the unique location under the bridge to create a 3D media facade viewing environment on both the walls (49m × 7.7m) and the floor (49m × 14m).
It is designed to be a perfect urban media art platform that you can enjoy while taking a walk after work, on a weekend outing, or even while passing by on the Hangang Bus (River Bus).

Three Themes: Art, Togetherness, and Charm
The opening exhibition features works centered around Seoul's core values: Art, Togetherness (Companionship), and Charm. The show runs for about 30 minutes and repeats 10 times a day (starting every hour and half-hour).
1. ART: Media Scape
Korea's representative media artists have reinterpreted the city's flow and the Han River's vitality using various algorithms and particle techniques.
• Seo Hyo-jung: Presents < Island Reflected in Water > and < Landscape Woven by Code: Seoul >, expressing the Han River's ecology and Seoul’s skyline through geometric abstraction.
• Yang Min-ha: Uses mathematical algorithms to realize the contrast of light waves and black-and-white in < Meditation 2025 > and < Abyss >.
• Jung Yoon-su: Expands the energy of storms created by tens of thousands of particles and the lingering scent of memories into the entire space in < Huracan > and < Rosaline >, leading the audience into deep immersion.
2. TOGETHERNESS: Moment Seoul
This section focuses on communicating with citizens.
• < Emotional Message at the End of the Day >: Offers words of cheer and comfort to wrap up your daily routine.
• < Haechi and Seoul Outing >: A delightful story animation featuring Seoul’s mascot, Haechi, and friends touring Seoul’s landmarks on the subway and Hangang Bus.
3. CHARM: Hangang Nature
• < Story of Nodeul >: Visualizes the ecology of Nodeul Island and the Han River in the form of a media art nature encyclopedia, vividly conveying the beauty of nature in the city.
Special Viewing Tip: Watch from the River!
One of the coolest features of this exhibition is that it is designed to be viewed from the water. If you take the Hangang Bus, you can enjoy the exhibition for about 4 minutes as the boat passes the Yeouido ↔ Apgujeong section (passing Nodeul Island).
To enhance the experience, an AI Docent program is provided on the bus to help passengers understand the artworks easily.
