Exploring BTS Jimin's Roots: A Pilgrimage to Geumjeong-gu, Busan
Jimin, who topped the Billboard Hot 100 with his solo track in 2024, is undeniably a top-tier global star.
But what was the childhood of Jimin, the "Recruiting Fairy" (Ipdeok Fairy) of BTS, like? To find out, we are setting off on a journey to Geumjeong-gu, Busan, Jimin’s hometown, to follow in his footsteps.
The Jimin Course: Hoedong Maru (Former Hoedong Elementary School) – Dadaepo Beach – Sunset Fountain of Dreams

1. Where It All Began: Hoedong Maru (Former Hoedong Elementary School)
The first stop is Jimin’s alma mater, Hoedong Elementary School. Unfortunately, the school was closed in 2018 due to a decline in the student population. However, it has been reborn as "Hoedong Maru," a creative experience learning center. When Jimin heard the news that his school was transforming into a space for children, he personally sent a congratulatory message for its opening.

The laughter of children still fills the halls here. The space is now operated as a Nutrition Education Experience Center and a Creative Manufacturing Workshop.

• Nutrition Education Experience Center: Children learn how to live a healthy life through seeing, listening, and touching. Programs include cooking classes and gardening. Recently, the response from international ARMYs interested in Korean food has been growing.
• Creative Manufacturing Workshop: A space where visitors can make various items using wood, fabric, recycled goods, 3D printers, and 3D pens. It is a popular career experience spot for children.

• Address: 217 Geumsa-ro, Geumjeong-gu, Busan.
• Transportation: Take Bus 179, 184, 42, 43, 5-1, or 99 and get off at "Hoedong-bon-dong." Walk for 5 minutes.
2. A Coffee Break Near Oncheonjang Station - 'Momos Coffe'

Leaving Hoedong Maru, there is a must-visit spot in Geumjeong-gu: a famous coffee shop near Oncheonjang Station (Subway Line 1). This cafe is renowned for producing the 2019 World Barista Champion and features its own roasting facilities.

Seasonal fruit drinks made in cooperation with local farms are launched regularly, and the smell of baking bread always wafts from the bakery. The quiet and scenic landscape of the cafe's garden is already famous on social media. It is the perfect place to take a break and wash away the fatigue of your journey.
3. Making a Wish at Sunset: Dadaepo Beach
There is another famous place in Busan where Jimin has left his mark, outside of Geumjeong-gu. It is Dadaepo Beach.
In January 2016, Jimin visited Dadaepo to make a New Year's wish, seeking out the beautiful sunset. The photo he took, posing with his hand "cupping" the falling sun against the red glow, became a standard pose for ARMYs visiting the beach for a long time.
Located where the Nakdong River meets the South Sea, Dadaepo offers one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Travelers are often mesmerized by the cozy landscape of the sea with its shimmering golden waves.

4. Dancing Water: Sunset Fountain of Dreams
Right next to the beach is the "Sunset Fountain of Dreams." On BTS anniversaries (such as their debut date or fan meeting days), the fountain hosts special shows choreographed to BTS music. If you are planning a visit, be sure to check the schedule!

• Address: 14 Morundae 1-gil, Saha-gu, Busan.
• Transportation: Subway Line 1, Dadaepo Beach Station (Exit 2). Walk for 8 minutes.
• Parking: Dadaepo Beach Public Parking Lot available.
A Walk Through Memories
Jimin spent his childhood in the romantic city of Busan, dreaming of becoming a singer. Although he is now a world-class superstar, there was a time when he was just a student snacking in front of his school.
Walking through places filled with someone's memories can be exciting in itself. And if that someone is your favorite star, the experience becomes even more special.
